Guiltless Angel(Food)

It’s here! It’s the Morning After video recipe of me making Guiltless Angel(food) French Toast. Guiltless because there’s no fat in the cherry angelfood cake and no shame in sharing breakfast in bed with my surprise Valentine! I’ll give you my fat-free cake recipe next week, but for now, click on the video screen above [...]

Market Report: Rampage

It seems like only a few days ago that I noticed the first crocus buds poking up from the earth of sidewalk plots. Thin spears of daffodils followed, and by Easter, New Yorkers lucky enough to boast gardens were awash with hyacinths and narcissus. And then, quietly and suddenly, the trees exploded into a riot [...]

With the wind whipping, temperature dropping and snow accumulating, I spent much of the last two weeks nesting in my cozy (and at times tropical) fifth floor walkup. By Wednesday, however, cabin fever started to set in, and I knew I needed to take a trip up to Chelsea Markets, specifically, to Dickson’s Farmstand Meats. [...]

You know what’s better than making handmade pumpkin ravioli? Handmade pumpkin ravioli someone else makes for you!

Here’s the thing. You might think it’s a bit of a cop-out, but the truth is that I know how to make ravioli; I’ve made them several times with many different fillings, but unless I’m settling into an [...]

That’s Not Kosher

The other night I sat home watching Thelma & Louise on Bravo. It was a Saturday night (to be precise) and my neighborhood was abuzz with the usual dating and drinking crowd. I know this because I left my apartment for the first time that day at around 11 at night, to buy pasta. Somebody’s [...]

As my father had to remind me constantly when my middle school comrades would copy my outfits and try to perfect [...]

Après Ski Fondue

After an introduction to the sport, I don’t think I’m en route to becoming a champion skier, but I may well take the prize for top après ski enthusiast! During a dream weekend in Vermont, spent skiing Stratton and Okemo Mountains, the Italiano and I cuddled up in front of a roaring fire, built for four in the winter [...]

Baby, it’s cold outside, but it’s so cozy its sweltering inside my 5th floor walkup. I just made Chicken Pot Pie and Cinnamon Sugar Cookies. So, my home smells like comfort but feels like Miami in July! You see, I have no control over the heat in my apartment, and in what must be my [...]

Roast Chicken

Celest: “I never order chicken in a restaurant.”
Sara: “’Cause it never tastes this good.”
Celest: “Yeah, and because my mother always told me it was the most boring choice. It’s like a throw-away meal.”
Amanda: “Mmmmmm…this is so tender!”
Erin: “Kimberly, I’m not even minding the ‘bird on the bones’ thing! The chicken just falls off.”

To be honest, no one [...]
